Rusticatio Veteranorum  is a full-immersion Latin workshop aimed at helping Latin speakers move beyond the beginning stages of Latin proficiency. In a supportive, intimidation-free environment, Rusticatio Veteranorum participants live together for seven days while they speak, read, write, prepare breakfast and lunch, and relax entirely in Latin. Participants will advance themselves along the road to fluency in a variety of settings, including instructional sessions, small group discussions, shared leisure activities and meals. Unique to Rusticatio Veteranorum will be that participants will also have ample opportunity to pursue topics and projects, opuscula, of their own choosing or design. The experienced staff of repetitores will provide support to participants, working solo or in self-selected groups, to help them produce their own unique Latin work through any media: prose, poetry, video, songs, theatrical productions, or even class prep and ideas for the coming school year!

While Rusticatio Veteranorum is appropriate for all levels of speakers, participants need to have completed at least one SALVI program in order to maximize the utility of this week’s focus on personal projects. Rusticatio Veteranorum offers a welcoming environment where a range of Latin speaking abilities is present, allowing participants to find their own level of Latin conversation. The program aims to provide participants with the resources to improve their fluency while also offering them the opportunity to explore those aspects of the Latin language they find most compelling.
