DESCRIPTION:Visit the AHF page for complete information.  \nEligibility: \nAmy High Fellowships are for current Latin teachers and for students at least 18 years of age at the time their SALVI program begins who have graduated from high school and are enrolled in undergraduate or graduate study\, and who\, having progressed in Latin beyond the basic level\, are planning to pursue a career teaching Latin.  \nFunding: \nThis year’s fellowship is an amount of up to $1500\, which must be used at a SALVI full-immersion Latin event to cover tuition\, room and board (where applicable)\, and associated travel\, lodging\, and incidental expenses.  \nApplication Process: \nApplicants must submit the online application form\, and request a single letter of recommendation\, which must also be submitted online. Applications must be fully completed by December 1\, 2018. Completed applications will be read by SALVI’s Amy High Fellowship Committee. Applicants will be notified of the award by email and on the SALVI website no later than Monday\, January 15\, 2019. Only complete applications will be considered.

REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED.\nBiduum Latinum Angelopolitanum will take place at the Getty Villa in Malibu\, CA\, October 13-14\, 2018.  Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday\, October 13\, and sessions conclude at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday\, October 14. \nBiduum Latinum Angelopolitanum serves two groups of people: For alumni of Rusticatio or other spoken Latin programs\, Biduum will offer a mid-year ‘fix’ of Latin immersion. For those new to spoken Latin\, the weekend will give a taste of Latin immersion\, and provide the confidence needed for those planning to attend a week-long workshop in the summer.  \nRegardless of your level of experience with spoken Latin\, plan to come away from Biduum Latinum Angelopolitanum with living Latin activities you can use in your classroom Monday morning! \nLocation: Class sessions will be held at the Getty Villa\, 17985 Pacific Coast Highway\, Pacific Palisades\, CA. Directions\, schedule\, and parking passes will be sent to participants. \nStaff: This year’s Biduum will be taught by Eduardo Engelsing\, assistant professor at Western Washington University\, together with RJ Parsons\, Keegan Potter\, and Jacque Myers.  \nEligibility: You are eligible to attend this workshop if you have already learned Latin on paper and are interested in developing active command of the spoken language. Please note that Biduum is not an introductory Latin course and thus it is not for people who have no knowledge of the language. Typically\, participants have completed\, at a minimum\, the equivalent of two years of traditional college Latin or four years of a high school Latin program. It is not necessary to have previous experience speaking Latin. \nCost: $135 per person\, covering tuition\, materials\, coffee and pastries both days\, and Saturday lunch at the Getty Villa. SUMMARY:Biduum Oklahomense
DESCRIPTION:SALVI (Septentrionale Americanum Latinitatis Vivae Institutum\, or North American Institute for Living Latin Studies) proudly presents Biduum Oklahomense\, a full-immersion Latin weekend workshop. Get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life while enjoying the natural beauty and fall colors of Oklahoma in October. A restorative two-day event at the peaceful Spring Valley Ranch\, Biduum allows participants to experience a sort of mini-Rusticatio: a communal atmosphere with other Latin speakers\, reading and conversation around the fire pit\, walks through the natural beauty of this 500 acre ranch\, and a slate of classroom and other activities. \nFeatures of Biduum: \n\nsupportive\, intimidation-free environment\ncommunicating entirely in Latin\nhigh-energy conversation exercises\nlearning and relaxing in Latin\nexperiencing\, as a student\, active teaching methods\ngames for a variety of learning styles\ntechniques that will streamline your teaching\nreadings from Latin literature presented in Latin\npedagogical discussions\ndelicious vegetarian meals\, beverages\, and snacks (don’t worry: meat snacks are provided!)\na feeling of camaraderie in the beautiful setting that is Spring Valley Ranch in the fall\n\nThe event serves two groups simultaneously: It offers a mid-year “fix” of immersion Latin for experienced Latin speakers. And it gives the curious a weekend—not a full week—of immersion Latin. The Timbers Lodge boasts a large deck for enjoying the views and a great room with open beams and a large fireplace. Tulsa International Airport is about a 90-minute drive from the ranch. \nCost: $360 per person\, all-inclusive\, covering two nights in the lodges\, five meals\, tuition\, and instructional materials.
