Biduum Latinum Angelopolitanum will take place at the Getty Villa in Malibu, CA, October 13-14, 2018. Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 13, and sessions conclude at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 14.
Biduum Latinum Angelopolitanum serves two groups of people: For alumni of Rusticatio or other spoken Latin programs, Biduum will offer a mid-year ‘fix’ of Latin immersion. For those new to spoken Latin, the weekend will give a taste of Latin immersion, and provide the confidence needed for those planning to attend a week-long workshop in the summer.
Regardless of your level of experience with spoken Latin, plan to come away from Biduum Latinum Angelopolitanum with living Latin activities you can use in your classroom Monday morning!
Location: Class sessions will be held at the Getty Villa, 17985 Pacific Coast Highway, Pacific Palisades, CA. Directions, schedule, and parking passes will be sent to participants.
Staff: This year’s Biduum will be taught by Eduardo Engelsing, assistant professor at Western Washington University, together with RJ Parsons, Keegan Potter, and Jacque Myers.
Eligibility: You are eligible to attend this workshop if you have already learned Latin on paper and are interested in developing active command of the spoken language. Please note that Biduum is not an introductory Latin course and thus it is not for people who have no knowledge of the language. Typically, participants have completed, at a minimum, the equivalent of two years of traditional college Latin or four years of a high school Latin program. It is not necessary to have previous experience speaking Latin.
Cost: $135 per person, covering tuition, materials, coffee and pastries both days, and Saturday lunch at the Getty Villa.
