Getty Villa Latin Academy (Academia Aestiva) 2023

The Getty Villa’s summer Latin Academy is a free, educational day-program, offering morning practice with spoken Latin and afternoon exposure to Roman culture in the context of a museum designed like a Roman villa. Advance experience speaking Latin is not expected. Participants should be in (or entering) high school and have the equivalent of at least one full year of high school Latin.
The theme this year is Good and Bad Roman Emperors, inspired by our summer exhibition of a gold bust of the emperor Marcus Aurelius, one of the canonical good emperors.
Applications open Feb.16, and acceptances are on a rolling basis until the session is full or until June 5, 2023. The application can be found at https://www.getty.edu/education/teens/index.html.
