Instructional Staff:
- Andrew (Andreas) Morehouse: Andrew Morehouse (Andreas) graduated from UMass Amherst in 2015 and 2017 with a BA in Classics and MAT in Latin and Classical Humanities respectively and nurtured there his love for teaching Latin and ancient Greek. He began speaking Latin in 2016 with Paideia at Living Latin in Rome where he was immediately inflamed with the desire to speak Latin just about every day. Each day since, he has spent a great deal of his time learning and understanding how to speak better, read better, and better grapple with the texts of the ancient world and the ancient world itself. This led him to SALVI with which he has been involved since 2018, serving as an instructor, sodalis, dux, and member of the board of directors. He currently runs Latinitas Animi Causa alongside his wife, Ilse, ubi linguae “mortuae” vivescunt! He loves making content in Latin and ancient Greek via podcasts and YouTube videos, and live streaming playing video games in Latin on Twitch. He also currently teaches Latin, ancient Greek, and Spanish at the Woodstock Academy in CT. Outside the Latin/Greek world, he enjoys doing archery, playing guitar, singing, photography, and reading in his spare time, when he can find it.
- Corrado (Conradus) Russo: In 2012 Corrado received a Master’s Degree in Classics from Tufts University. Since then he has taught Latin and Greek in public and independent schools at the middle and high school levels. He fell in love with the active use of Latin after attending his first immersion event in 2010. He was a founding member of the Boston Active Latin Meetup group and hosted it for several years, and has recorded and released complete Latin audiobooks available on a podcast titled “Musaeolum.” He has presented on topics relating to Latin pedagogy at conferences hosted by ACTFL, the Massachusetts Foreign Language Association (MAFLA), and the Classical Association of Massachusetts (CAM). He attends and staffs summer Latin immersion events regularly, and had the pleasure of serving as dux of Rusticatio Omnibus in 2019 and 2024. He spends his free time reading Latin literature with friends and enjoying the natural world.
- Catherine (Catherina) Reed: Catherina was born and raised in Maryland, and loves all the culture that the Baltimore area has to offer. She has hosted scavenger hunts for her students at the Walters Art Museum there, amongst the mummies and Greek pottery. She also enjoys indulging her interest in botany and scientific Latin during her frequent walks at Baltimore’s Cylburn Arboretum. Catherine is the co-creator and co-host of the Latin cooking podcast “Secunda Mensa”, and she has also co-hosted the Latin podcast “Quomodo Dicitur?” Catherine loves singing, playing, and talking in Latin with her middle school students at Loyola Blakefield in Baltimore County. She has a Masters in the Art of Teaching, is a SALVI Board Member, and is a frequent instructor and organizer of SALVI Bidua and Rusticationes.
