Rusticatio Veteranorum is a full-immersion Latin workshop offering high-energy conversation exercises and readings from Latin literature in a supportive, intimidation-free environment. Rusticatio Veteranorum provides an opportunity to continue to develop their Latinity, reading skills, and cement amicitia with participants new and old! Participants should expect to develop more idiomatic speech and range of expressions, and will have more opportunities to output Latin and read passages in greater depth. Participants will also work on an opusculum, either by themselves or with others, that will be presented on the last day of the Rusticatio.
Location:
We will reside and conduct our workshop sessions in the historic mansion house on the Claymont Estate, 667 Huyett Road, Charles Town, WV, 25414. Built in the 1830s by a nephew of George Washington, the Claymont Mansion remained in the Washington family until the Civil War.
Eligibility:
Rusticatio Veteranorum is appropriate for those who have completed a SALVI immersion event or a comparable Latin immersion experience.
Age Eligibility:
Participants must be 18 years old and have graduated from high school by the start date of the program.
If you have any questions, now or in the future, feel free to write us at rusticatio@latin.org. Gratias!
